About The Position

The Dietary Aide works in our adult day health center preparing and serving snacks and meals to participants. This role is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment and other related tasks. InnovAge is dedicated to empowering seniors to live independently, allowing them to age in their own homes and communities safely. InnovAge offers an alternative to nursing homes through its Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which provides enrolled seniors with customized healthcare and social support at PACE Adult Day Health Centers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have ServSafe certification or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
  • A minimum of one year experience working with the frail or elderly is required
  • Must have current food safety training or be able to obtain immediately upon employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of basic nutrition for a geriatric population is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes meals and beverages in center and/or in home following departmental guidelines.
  • Records temperatures of all meals and kitchen equipment and wears a hair net, gloves and apron during meal and snack preparations.
  • Updates information on diet card and diet lists when information changes or as needed.
  • Prepares and serves morning and afternoon snacks according to snack menu, portion control, diet orders, and time constraints.
  • Serves the morning and/or noon meal at a proper temperature with references to; diet, supplements, adaptive equipment needs and portion control.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the kitchen and kitchen equipment by performing the weekly and daily cleaning according to schedule.
  • Cleans, organizes and sanitizes food service equipment and areas.
  • Maintains the inventory and restocks supplies on a regular basis. Monitors related expiration dates.
  • Assists the DSM and Dietary Lead with ordering, tracking and delivering meals, snacks, supplies and supplements.
  • Communicates with the Lead Dietary Aide, Speech Therapist and Dietitian regarding nutritional issues.
  • Assists the Dietitian with the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
