About The Position

The Dietary Aide is responsible for various tasks related to food service and sanitation within the facility. Key responsibilities include filling sinks and the dishwasher, clearing resident tables, monitoring and documenting dishwasher temperatures, washing and storing dishes and pans, taking out trash, and spot sweeping dining rooms. Specific tasks have daily deadlines, such as filling resident beverages by 11:50 a.m. End-of-shift duties include refilling the Coke machine, collecting and washing dishes from the kitchen, assisting during serving times, bussing tables, cleaning countertops, taking out trash from various rooms, setting tables for dinner, ensuring dining room carpets are clean, and sweeping and mopping kitchen and other designated areas.

Requirements

  • Meets dress code standards, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Wear Identification badge.
  • Attends department meetings/in-services. Attends 75%
  • Gives timely and proper notification of intended absences when sick and taking benefit pay. Maintains attendance, punctual at the start of work shift and adheres to departmental lunch and break periods.
  • Observes departmental policies regarding infection and safety. This includes all food safety rules.
  • Strives to maintain a good rapport and appropriate interdepartmental relationship with other departments. Participates in creating a positive work environment for everyone.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate daily workload.
  • Follows administrative and departmental directives supportively and effectively. Channels suggestions and questions through proper chains of command. (Supervisor, Coordinator, then Administrator)
  • High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
  • Prior foodservice and/or nutrition related field experience preferred.
  • Must pass the Dietary Ability Test with 80% or greater as given by the Human Resources Department.
  • Obtain a current or temporary Food Handler’s Permit offered by the Jackson County Health Department.
  • Demonstrated through prior work experience, the characteristics of steady attendance and punctuality preferred.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to perform functions and duties of this position.
  • Vision and hearing is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Fill sinks and dishwasher.

  • Wash dishes and pans and put away.

  • Help during serving when needed.
  • Buss tables after residents leave.
  • Wash dishes and pans (document temp).
  • Clean counter tops in dish room.
  • Take out the trash in dish room and food prep room.
  • Set tables for dinner.
  • Make sure dining room carpet is clean.
  • Sweep and mop all kitchen areas, bathroom, storage areas and tiles by the refrigerator in the dining room.
