About The Position

The Dietary Aide is responsible for completing tasks within the Food Services department. This is a temporary position with a duration of 3 months, potentially extendable, and involves working 45 hours per week. The role requires availability for days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. The incumbent must be able to work safely, follow established practices, and be knowledgeable in WHMIS. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary, along with a genuine desire to work with the elderly and an understanding of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards. The position involves performing routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions and requires the ability to lift 50lbs and work every other weekend as per the collective agreement. The successful candidate will receive full training, but other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Certificate of Food Service Worker Program
  • Food Handling Certificate
  • Grade 12 High School graduate or equivalent combination of education
  • One year of related experience in a kitchen and/or servery is essential
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • Must be able to be exposed to noise, high temperature and moisture while working in the dish room, kitchen, and Serveries, as well as temperature and humidity changes when entering refrigerated/freezer and storage areas
  • Knowledgeable in WHMIS
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be team oriented
  • Possess effective communication skills
  • Have a genuine desire to work with the elderly
  • Must have an understanding of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to work every other weekend as per current collective agreement

  • Perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
