About The Position

The Dietary Aide is responsible for preparing and serving meals to residents in our healthcare facility, ensuring that dietary needs are met while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This role involves meal preparation, food delivery, maintaining sanitation, monitoring residents' dietary needs, managing food inventory, and interacting with residents regarding their nutrition. The position also requires adherence to compliance training, HIPAA regulations, and organizational policies. The Dietary Aide supports the Salemtowne Shines culture and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • An understanding of dietary restrictions and special dietary needs is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is important for success in this role.
  • Capable of standing and walking short distances for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry objects more than 50 pounds.
  • Stoop and bend at the knees, twisting from side to side at the waist.
  • Reach above, below, and at shoulder level.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in healthcare or food service settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and cooks meals according to the specific dietary requirements and preferences of residents, adhering to safety and health standards.
  • Delivers meals to residents, ensuring correct temperature and prompt service.
  • Maintains cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Assists in monitoring residents’ dietary needs and preferences, reporting any changes to the dietitian or healthcare providers.
  • Helps manage food inventory, including stocking supplies and placing orders as needed.
  • Communicates with residents about their dietary needs and preferences, providing information and support regarding nutrition.
  • Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance.
  • Adheres to Salemtowne’s Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program and reports possible concerns.
  • Follows all local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.
  • Adheres to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Supports Salemtowne Shines culture and philosophy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as may be required to meet emergencies.
