About The Position

This position performs a variety of routine tasks in the kitchen, tray line and dishwashing areas according to standard practices and procedures. Responsibilities include serving food on the tray assembly line, delivering dishes and trays, understanding patient food preferences, accurately recording meals served, monitoring food temperatures, and maintaining sanitation and quality standards. The role also involves assembling foods, supplies, and equipment for daily food preparation, following standardized recipes, assisting with prep lists, stocking the café and galley, and documenting thermometer calibration. In sanitation, the aide ensures compliance, cleans dishes and equipment, prepares and transports food carts, washes pots and pans, performs heavy cleaning duties, and disposes of trash. Departmental support includes assisting with facility, equipment, and supply maintenance, proper stock storage, participating in meal planning, reporting issues, and assisting with inventory counts. Scheduled shift times may vary based on staffing requirements and operational needs. The position also requires adherence to Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance Criteria, including Standards of Behaviors, hospital policies, safety guidelines, reliable attendance, maintaining current licenses/certifications, knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies, completing annual education and competency requirements, and understanding compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Previous experience in food preparation.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to read and interpret common recipes.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on tray assembly line involving duties such as serving food, pouring soup, adding desserts, arranging trays, stacking trays on carts.
  • Deliver dishes and trays at designated times and rooms.
  • Conferring with patients in order to understand their food likes and dislikes.
  • Accurately records meals served and monitor temperatures of food using appropriate logs.
  • Serve meals using standards to maintain sanitation and quality.
  • Review menu and assemble foods, supplies and equipment for daily food preparation.
  • Follow standardized recipes.
  • Assists with prep list, grab and go, and stocking the café and galley.
  • Documents weekly thermometer calibration on appropriate logs.
  • Remove items from carts and trays, sort and rinse dishes and silverware, load, operate and unload the dishwasher, stack or store washed items as required.
  • Clean dishwashing machine.
  • Prepare, load and/or transport food carts.
  • Clean carts on return to kitchen.
  • Wash pots and pans.
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties such as scraping, scouring, rinsing pots and pans, utensils and equipment.
  • Collect, process and dispose of trash, can, bottles and similar debris and transport to disposal area.
  • Completes cleaning duties as assigned on weekly and monthly cleaning list.
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of department facilities, equipment and supplies as directed.
  • Store stock appropriately in order to maintain cleanliness and prevent food spoilage.
  • Participates in meal planning.
  • Reports any issues or problems that may arise to the Integrated Services Director /Dietary Supervisor.
  • Assists with the counting of monthly inventory.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.
  • Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
