About The Position

As a Dietary Aide, you’ll help serve meals that support healing and well-being for our patients, residents, and staff. From preparing trays and assisting with meal service to keeping work areas clean and organized, you’ll play a key role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Exceptional knowledge of dietary terminology and processes or the ability to learn and retain.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals, snacks, and beverages following specific guidelines
  • Serve meals, ensuring food safety and hygiene procedures are always followed.
  • Take inventory of kitchen supplies and food items
  • Clarifies unclear or missing diet orders with nursing staff.
  • Assists with room delivery service as needed, including assembling patient trays, loading carts, and delivering meals to patients and residents.
  • Checks accuracy of meal tray against patient and resident menu selections.
  • Assists cooks and other staff with dishes as needed throughout shift.
  • Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with patients, residents, providers, co-workers and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community.
  • Maintains a professional, organized and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Coordinates with medical staff and other departments to ensure efficiency as needed.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings.
  • Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines.
  • Completes Work Assignments in a timely manner.
  • Assist visitors with directions whenever requested.
  • Always introduces self to patients, residents, families, and visitors when appropriate.
  • Reports on safety hazards as appropriate.
  • Replenishes supplies as needed.
  • Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions.
  • Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Observes safety precautions.
  • Has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Has the ability to read and understand equipment operation manual.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and interdepartmental objectives.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, training, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education and learning.
  • Assists in keeping kitchen and other dietary areas clean, organized and well stocked thought shift.
  • Keeps all temperature and supplement logs up to date as required.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
