About The Position

The Dietary Aide supports the effective operation of the community kitchen by maintaining a properly sanitized and sufficient stock of dishes and assisting the cook with meal preparation to help ensure the orderly flow of kitchen operations. The role serves meals and snacks in health center pantries and dining rooms, supports meal service, and ensures orders match physician diet orders. The position is full-time and includes two morning and two evening shifts.

Requirements

Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.
Ability to plan, organize, and set up trays and plates according to diet orders and interpret specifications and standards.
Ability to work cooperatively with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisors, and peers.
Empathy for the elderly.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
Previous experience in nursing home food service; experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Prepare therapeutic desserts and salads as required.
Serve meals in health center pantries.
Set up tables in health center dining rooms and break them down after meals.
Transport hot and cold foods to and from health center pantries.
Transport required non-food items to and from health center pantries.
Wash silverware, glassware, and china in pantry dish machines according to regulations.
Provide health center snacks and supplements according to diet orders.
Maintain stock and sanitation levels in dining-room coffee and juice machines.
Set tables and maintain workstations in proper order.
Take orders and provide service and requested items graciously and courteously.
Clear dishes from tables during and after meal service.
Answer relevant questions about menu items.
Ensure orders match physician diet orders.
