This position is responsible for responding appropriately to the special needs of each group served, specific to age, language, gender, culture, religion/spirituality, economic background, education or literacy, developmental or cognitive disabilities, and physical and developmental disabilities. The employee also aids in the orientation of new employees. Key duties include setting up and checking resident trays accurately, preparing nourishments, properly setting up tray line stations, following diet extensions and portion control, preparing and serving palatable and appetizing meals, and adhering to sanitation policies for food handling and storage to minimize cross-contamination. The role also involves setting up beverage carts and other special events, working at the dish room station and recording dishwasher temperatures, and ensuring work areas are clean and equipment is properly stored. The Dietary Aide must be able to complete assignments within allotted time, adjust to changes, follow safety procedures, and be knowledgeable of MSDS and department/facility Performance Improvement Projects.
