About The Position

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service. Assists residents when placing orders from the menu, provides beverage service, and refills condiment containers. The role requires understanding sit-down service, basic food preparation, and proper food storage. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room, attending required meetings, and performing other assigned duties. A key aspect of this role is being attentive to the special needs of residents, such as mobility deficits and memory impairment, and assisting with tray service. Adherence to confidentiality policies regarding resident information and maintaining polite interactions with all individuals are essential.

Requirements

  • Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours.
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
  • Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to work under close supervision.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
  • Must be organized.
  • Must be willing to work well with other team members.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Serve resident and guest meals courteously.
  • Clean and reset the dining room after meal service.
  • Assist residents with menu orders.
  • Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee/tea).
  • Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls before and after each meal.
  • Report broken equipment or tableware to supervisor.
  • Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
  • Perform basic food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.).
  • Apply knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.
  • Be attentive to special needs of residents (mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc.).
  • Assist with tray service.
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
  • Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
