This is a 0.2 FTE position (16 hours per two-week pay period) with 8-hour day shifts (7:30 am to 4:00 pm) and an every other weekend rotation. Must be able to use a tablet and take patient meal orders bedside.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Some experience in food service and/or modified diets

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of meals to all service areas including patients, cafeteria, catering and others.
  • May assist patient and family regarding meal selection.
  • Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.
  • Washes all dishes, trays, cookware, carts and utensils.
  • May also operate a cash register.
  • Assists in preparation and set-up of assigned food for patients and employees.
  • Follows cycle menus, modified menus and standardized recipes when preparing food.
  • Assembles patient food trays according to dietary needs.
  • Delivers and retrieves patient food trays.
  • Prepares items for meal service in cafeteria.
  • During meal service, correctly restocks product and maintains area.
  • May assist patient and family with menu selection and communication to kitchen staff.
  • May set up catered meals and snacks as scheduled.
  • Assists in putting away grocery orders.
  • Checks temperatures regularly prior to serving food.
  • Labels, dates, covers and stores food properly.
  • Utilizes sanitizing techniques for food, self and equipment.
  • Disposes of garbage and waste properly.
  • Works under minimal supervision and uses independent judgment to analyze variable factors and new assignments.
  • Provides technical leadership on daily tasks.
  • Regularly trains and mentors employees.
  • Provides orientation to new employees.
  • Complete all required documentation and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
