The Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker position is part of the Dietary department and is a full-time role working approximately 75 hours per two-week pay period. This position is responsible for supporting daily food service operations, including assisting with patient meal services, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and ensuring accurate diet and tray delivery. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including a combination of 6:00 AM–2:00 PM and 11:00 AM–7:00 PM shifts, as well as participation in a weekend and holiday rotation. This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, timely, and accurate food service for patients and hospital staff. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of therapeutic diets and written menus.
  • Familiarity with food items, portion sizes, and dietary standards.
  • Knowledge of sanitary codes and safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and delivery of patient meal trays according to diet orders.
  • Verify accuracy of items on patient trays prior to delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Operate cash register and assist with cafeteria or service area transactions as needed.
  • Stock vending machines and maintain food and supply storage areas.
  • Follow dietary guidelines, menus, and established procedures.
  • Provide cross-coverage within the Dietary department as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all sanitation, safety, and infection control standards.
