About The Position

The Dietary Aide helps the dietitian make sure patients get the right food and nutrition. They help organize and prepare food for meals. They keep the kitchen clean, safe, and sanitary, and make sure food is prepared correctly and follows all safety rules and special diet requirements. The Dietary Aide works closely with the Dietary Director, dietitians, other dietary staff, and employees from other departments as needed.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience in Food Safety desired, but not necessary.
ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training or willingness to get certified in a food safety program.
Minimum 18 years of age and be able to read, write and speak English.
Ability to follow standardized recipes.
Ability to calculate fluid restrictions, carbohydrate counting and diet modifications.

Nice To Haves

Experience in Food Safety desired, but not necessary.

Responsibilities

Maintaining food safety standards according to state and federal regulations.
May provide training and orientation of new staff, as needed.
Review and agree to abide by Grace Cottage Family Health & Hospital Compliance Program
Interacts and shares information with others in an accurate and positive manner.

Confers frequently with Director of Dietary and support staff.

Participate in monthly staff meetings/in-services and other committees as appropriate.
Ability to work without immediate supervision.
Responsible for organizing and preparing food production needs for patients, staff and functions.
Promotes and responsible for cost containment through appropriate use of physical and material resources.
Help to be responsible for ensuring safety and sanitation of the kitchen, maintaining quality control functions and compliance with regulatory agencies and therapeutic diets.
May be asked to collect payment during lunchtime meals.
Prepares meals and baked goods in accordance with standardized recipes, customer dietary needs, Servsafe and CMS preparation guidelines, and departmental, state and federal health regulations.
Cleans and sanitize all equipment and work areas in accordance with Servsafe, CMS guidelines, and departmental, state and including but not limited to food quality, par levels and effective communication with Dietary Director.
