About The Position

Glacial Ridge Health System is hiring a part-time Dietary Aide and Cook position to support our food service team during daytime hours. This role plays an important part in creating meals that support healing, comfort, and overall well-being for patients, staff, and visitors. Prior food service experience is preferred, but not mandatory. A strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn are the most important qualifications. Whether you’ve worked as a cook, dietary aide, or simply enjoy preparing meals for others, we’ll provide the training you need—even if this is your first time in a professional kitchen. This position is part-time, approximately 16-24 hours a week, from 5:30 am – 2:00 pm, with weekend and holiday rotations.

Requirements

  • Must be ServSafe certified or be willing to obtain certification.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Team building.
  • Ability to make simple calculations.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to organize work to meet serving time schedules.
  • Ability to learn the restrictions of various diets as stated in dietary manual.
  • Must adhere to HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • Must adhere to the Keys to Heartfelt Care.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior food service experience is preferred
  • Previous kitchen experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Help the Cook with meal preparation.
  • Prepare any items needed for the next day.
  • Help serve hot food to employees after patient trays have been sent to the Nursing Floor.
  • Help prepare special meals needed for meetings.
  • Prepare portions and serve foods and beverages on the trays.
  • Strip, wash and return dishes to proper area.
  • Perform cleaning duties according to posted cleaning schedule.
  • Mop floors in kitchen.
  • Check and stock all supplies.
  • Prepare food from menu for patients at each meal service.
  • Plan and prepare additional menu items for cafeteria service.
  • Consult with manager in regards to menu plans.
  • Assemble meal tray for breakfast, lunch, dinner meals.
  • Check accuracy of tray before sent to patient.
  • Portion and serve foods and beverage on the tray.
  • Serve food to hospital guests in common ground café.
  • Document temperatures for prepared food and storage areas.
  • Prepare food for special functions and baking when needed.
  • Adhere to strict sanitation practices.
  • Assure night food supplies are adequate.
  • Attend in-service education meetings as required.
  • Assist other cooks/team members as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as employer requires.
