About The Position

Cherry Brook Health Care Center, a division of New Horizons, Inc., offers short-term rehabilitation, long –term respite, hospice and dementia care. Our dedicated staff provides individualized care with compassion, dignity and respect. Located in Canton, our facility has spacious private and semiprivate rooms, a well-appointed dining area, comfortable lounges and a beautiful landscaped outdoor terrace. Requirements

  • Must possess as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum one (1) year experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other related medical facility.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of the dining service areas; must perform regular inspections of dietary services areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing dietary practices.

Responsibilities

  • Meet sanitation standards.
  • Must be able to provide point of service meal delivery and ensure quality and quantity of all food delivery.
  • Demonstrate correct safety techniques.
  • Contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions.
  • Complies with privacy practices and protects residents’ health information.
  • Contribute to and promote positive resident and family relations.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures.
  • Preparing meals, snacks and beverages following specific procedures.
  • Serving meals, ensuring food safety and hygiene procedures are followed at all times.
  • Taking inventory of kitchen supplies and food items.
  • Staying current on the individual procedures and protocols for their facilities, including state-specified rules and regulations.
  • Maintain temperature logs as required.
  • Setting up and taking down dining areas and assisting with kitchen maintenance and general cleaning.
  • Delivering food to specific patients.
  • Assisting kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, sanitary workplace.
  • Being mindful of dietary restrictions, allergies, and special concerns.
  • Ensuring all dishes adhere to a particular menu.
  • Provide friendly customer service to all residents.
  • Answering phone calls to the kitchen for special requests or changes.
  • Fully complies with all federal and state laws and standards of ethical and professional conduct applicable to the position.
  • Knowledge about laws and regulations relating to job responsibilities, e.g., EEO, OSHA, patient rights, fraud/abuse laws.
