This is a part-time, fully benefitted position working 56 hours every two weeks, located at our Scripps Mercy campus in Hillcrest. Must be available to work a varied shift (start time will be dependent upon the department's need) and varied schedule including weekends. Our Diet Clerks provide administrative and clerical support for Food and Nutrition Services.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English
  • SD County Food Handler Card; or Food Safety Certificate, or able to pass Food Handlers test given by certified manager or designee within 30 days of hire

  • College courses in nutrition

Responsibilities

  • Processing diet orders
  • Assisting patients with menu selections
  • Distinguishing between food and medication allergies
  • Maintains current diet orders and menus to ensure compliance to the physician diet order
  • Checks tray line for patient tray accuracy
  • Able to function effectively in a call center environment
  • Serves as a liaison between Nursing and Food and Nutrition Services departments handling patient complaints, food issues and basic questions about meals/diets
