About The Position

Unidine is hiring immediately for a part time DIET CLERK position. This role is responsible for accurately assembling and preparing resident meal trays for Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) service in accordance with prescribed diets and meal service standards. The Diet Clerk will apply IDDSI guidelines to modify food textures and liquid consistencies, review and follow individual resident diet orders, preferences, and food allergies, and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment. This position also involves collaborating effectively with cooks, dietary staff, and management to ensure timely tray completion and preparation of alternative menu selections. Under the direction of the Patient Services Manager and/or Clinical Nutrition Manager, this role is responsible for patient menu management, data collection, and diet office functions, as needed.

Requirements

  • Prior healthcare and hospital kitchen experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assemble and prepare resident meal trays for Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) service in accordance with prescribed diets and meal service standards.
  • Apply IDDSI guidelines to modify food textures and liquid consistencies to ensure safe consumption for residents with swallowing or dietary restrictions.
  • Review and follow individual resident diet orders, preferences, and food allergies to ensure all meals are compliant with clinical and personal requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in accordance with food safety and infection control standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with cooks, dietary staff, and management to ensure timely tray completion, including preparation of alternative menu selections as needed.
  • Distributes and collect menus.
  • Assists patients in completing menu selections in compliance with prescribed diet, as assigned by dietitian.
  • Offers alternatives to menu as allowed on prescribed diet in accordance with food allergies or sensitivities, cultural, ethnic and religious preferences when patient inquires or needs additional selections.
  • Plans regular and modified menus based on current diet manual.
  • Prepares and distributes supplements, tube feedings, and enteral formula in an accurate and timely manner.
  • May be responsible for the preparation, distribution, inventory and management of human/donor milk and/or infant formula.
  • Adheres to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient's rights policies.
  • Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state and TJC.
  • Completes all required documentation, reports and logs.
  • Follows facility and department infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Participates in facility-wide and department Performance Improvement Program and on Performance Improvement teams to improve processes and patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
