About The Position

The Diet Aide assists with meal preparation and service, cleaning and dishwashing, and maintaining safe, clean, and properly stocked dietary work areas. The role follows the facility’s dietary, infection-control, and universal-precautions policies and procedures, and works with the facility dietitian as needed to implement recommended changes. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

Work with the facility dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes.
Assist with timely meal service and serve food according to established portion-control procedures.
Set up meal trays, food carts, and dining areas; deliver food carts and trays to designated areas; and remove used trays for dishwashing.
Assist the cook with meal preparation, including special meals for parties, and prepare and deliver snacks as instructed.
Distribute and collect menus as necessary.
Assist in checking diet trays before distribution.
Obtain and maintain food supplies needed for the next meal.
Perform scheduled cleaning, dishwashing, and utensil-cleaning duties; return clean utensils to proper storage and ensure they are available for the next meal.
Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators, freezers, and other assigned areas; sweep and mop floors as directed; and keep work areas clean, dry, and free of hazards.
Carry soiled utensils to the wash area, carry out garbage, and dispose of food and waste according to established policies.
Maintain food-storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner.
Follow established dietary, infection-control, and universal-precautions procedures.
Help ensure necessary equipment and supplies are maintained and the department is clean and safe.
Immediately report hazardous conditions, equipment issues, and accidents to the supervisor.
Report missing or illegible labels or safety data sheets (MSDSs) to the supervisor.
