About The Position

The Healthcare Diet Aide communicates with patients, staff, and hospital guests to ensure patient meal trays and floor stock are accurate and delivered on time. The role includes assembling and delivering meal trays, assisting patients with bedside meal set-up, collecting soiled trays, stocking food and supplies, and providing excellent customer service. Additional duties include taking meal orders through an electronic ordering system, sanitizing dishware and other items, maintaining clean work areas, attending required training, completing HACCP logs, and performing other tasks assigned by a supervisor or manager. This is a per-diem position with rotating shifts Monday through Friday and weekends, with listed shift times of 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Weekend and rotating holiday work are required.

Responsibilities

Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
Comply with hospital-wide and department-specific policies and procedures.
Assist with food preparation and assembly of patient meal trays.
Stock refrigerators on patient units and stock supplies on the tray line.
Prepare desserts for the cafeteria and stock them in the café’s federal cooler.
Deliver patient meal trays promptly and courteously, assisting patients with tray set-up as needed.
Collect and clean soiled trays promptly; clean the dish room and dish machine at the end of each shift; and wrap silverware.
Take patient meal orders using the electronic ordering system.
Sanitize dishware and non-dishware items and maintain a clean, sanitized work area throughout and at the end of the shift.
Participate in required dietary in-service training.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and hospital employees.
Work as part of a team to provide timely and courteous service.
Complete assigned HACCP logs.
Perform other tasks identified by the supervisor or manager.
