About The Position

Kienstra - Ready Mix Concrete has served the St. Louis Regional Area since 1947! Seeking an experienced technician interested in a career in repairing ready-mix concrete trucks. This is a day shift, Monday through Friday position with available overtime. The position provides an excellent wage and benefits package with an opportunity for advancement. The purpose of this position is to perform routine, preventative, diagnostic, and repair maintenance on all Company equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner. The technician may be called upon to work extensive overtime as weather and business conditions warrant. You will perform a complete range and variety of major, minor and routine repairs on heavy equipment or heavy vehicles. You will require the ability to repeat the same or similar tasks multiple times in a day. Familiarity and strict adherence to all company policies that impact job, including but not limited to: lockout/tagout, confined space and hazard communication. Candidates must be able to effectively complete all duties outlined below and meet all qualifications and proficiencies as required by the position or be able to demonstrate an aptitude to do so with acquired experience. A Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining multiple types of diesel-powered equipment. Duties include adjusting equipment, repair or replace defective parts, diagnosing faults or malfunctions using testing equipment, and cleaning or performing maintenance work. Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other maintenance work. Performance of an individual daily fleet of location units, correcting fluids and checking functions as required. Perform quality preventative maintenance as per the detailed schedule on a consistent basis. Perform preventive maintenance inspections as specified using mechanic tools and shop equipment which may include hydraulic, electric, hand and air tools. Perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures and determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems. Diagnosing malfunctions or problems using a computerized system or testing equipment to determine the root cause of any issues. Repair malfunctioning components, retrofit engines, change brakes, adjust steering systems, replace worn-out parts and change hydraulic fluids. Use computerized equipment along with cutting torches, pneumatic wrenches, hydraulic jacks, screwdrivers, pliers, mallets and precision gauges. Test drive trucks before and after repairs, as needed.

Requirements

Experienced technician interested in a career in repairing ready-mix concrete trucks.
A valid driver's license from your state of residence with appropriate endorsements and a clean driving record is required.
Pre-employment background checks and drug tests are required.
Must be able to do moderately strenuous work, including but not limited to the ability to lift over 75 pounds and endure long periods of standing/walking as well as continuous strenuous activities such as frequent reaching, bending, or lifting.
You must be able to work in severe weather conditions, both heat and cold, be able to stand / sit for extended periods, regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move as part of normal work activities.
You may be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Maintain detailed and accurate service records and documentation.
Meet with peers, managers, internal customers (drivers) and vendors to explain problems and possible solutions.

Must be able to read/write/interpret directions.
Working with specialized machinery such as forklifts, loaders, hoists and plant equipment.
Understanding the inner workings of various machines such as skid steers, aerial boom lifts, etc.
Must possess own Hand Tools.
Operate basic shop tools including welders, torches, impact wrenches, grinders, ladders, and other equipment as assigned.
Must be able to perform tire changes and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of health and safety standards required for the role.
Must be able to work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following Company safety guidelines and following company policies.
General knowledge of engine scanning systems.
Experience with DPF systems, electrical systems, air systems, fuel systems & brake systems required.
Must be able to trouble shoot.
Maintains a safe and clean work area.
Must be motivated, be a self-starter, productive and efficient worker.
Welding & fabrication skills and experience required.
Brakes, Cab, instruments, Drive train – perform repairs as needed to replace the transmission, differentials or other damaged parts.
Electrical system.
Emissions - repairing and verifying any emission control systems.
Engine system, Frame, HVAC PTO, hydraulics, Steering, suspension, Tires, wheels.

Nice To Haves

Experience on International, Kenworth, Mack, Sterling, Western Star trucks is desirable.
Experience with end dump and pneumatic trailers is desirable.
Technical certifications and a CDL is desirable.

Responsibilities

Perform routine, preventative, diagnostic, and repair maintenance on all Company equipment.
Perform a complete range and variety of major, minor and routine repairs on heavy equipment or heavy vehicles.
Daily inspection of the lot to verify equipment condition and identify potential out-of-service items.
Interacting with fleet manager, drivers, batch men, and operation and production personnel.
Order parts as needed and maintain inventory control.
Perform repairs as needed on fleet equipment in yard as well as on the road.
Maintain repair orders including labor hours, parts used, and general comments.
May require travel to potentially any of our plant locations based on needs.
Will perform other duties as assigned by management personnel.
