About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at Parks Chevrolet Charlotte. This full-time position involves performing repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, diagnosing malfunctions, and ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient and accurate work. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engine repair, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a dealership environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Diesel Engine repair training or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment necessary for the job in a safe manner.
  • Automotive Technician Experience Required.
  • Proven Fixed Right Survey Scores.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Complete MPI Inspection report and send findings to the service advisor.
  • Execute the service SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) at all times.
  • Utilize AutoPoint and keep all repair orders up to date and strive to maintain at least two recommendations per vehicle.
  • Utilize AutoPoint to communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Notify the service advisor immediately if additional work outlined is not needed or required.
  • Notify the service advisor immediately if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Document work performed.
  • Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician.
  • Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are kept clean.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership-owned tools at all times.
  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures and immediately report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.
