About The Position

We are looking for an Entry Level Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Albany, NY. In this role, you will make an impact by maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and pursuing ongoing development and certifications on new and existing Cummins products. You will also be responsible for maintaining your own tools, assisting in basic workshop activities such as cleaning, inspecting, and disassembling, and learning Standard Repair Times (SRTs) to complete basic repairs and maintenance following documented procedures and policies. You will complete required documentation, such as work completed forms and time sheets, and undergo training aligned with job skills and business requirements. Maintaining the cleanliness and proper operation of the work area and tools is essential, as is projecting a positive company image through cooperative, supportive, and courteous interactions. Ensuring adherence to all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies, procedures, and legislation, and reporting any issues or incidents to the supervisor are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
  • Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources
  • Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level
  • Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts
  • Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
  • Strong work ethic
  • Personal hand tools
  • This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements
  • This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing
  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

Responsibilities
