About The Position

Luxxor is seeking an experienced and dependable Diesel Technician to support the maintenance, repair, inspection, and safe operation of our fleet vehicles. This position plays a critical role in keeping our buses and commercial vehicles road-ready, reliable, and compliant with company safety standards and applicable DOT requirements. The Diesel Technician will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, completing repairs, inspecting vehicles, documenting work performed, and helping ensure the fleet remains available for daily operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong diesel repair knowledge, good diagnostic skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced fleet environment. This position requires someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, understands the importance of vehicle safety, and can communicate clearly with operations, drivers, and management regarding vehicle status, repair timelines, and maintenance needs.

Requirements

Previous diesel technician, fleet technician, bus technician, heavy-duty technician, or commercial vehicle repair experience preferred
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, preventative maintenance, brake systems, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and general vehicle repair
Experience working on buses, shuttle buses, medium-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, or commercial fleet vehicles preferred
Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues accurately and efficiently
Familiarity with DOT inspection standards and commercial vehicle safety requirements preferred
Ability to read and understand repair procedures, service manuals, wiring diagrams, fault codes, and maintenance documentation
Comfortable using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, multimeters, hand tools, power tools, jacks, lifts, and shop equipment
Ability to complete repairs safely, correctly, and in a timely manner
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, reliable vehicle operation
Ability to work independently while also communicating well with drivers, dispatch, operations, and management
Must be dependable, organized, and able to prioritize repairs based on safety and operational needs
Valid driver’s license required
Must be able to pass any required background check, drug screen, or employment screening

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered buses, shuttle vehicles, and other company equipment.
Perform routine preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoot vehicle issues.
Repair mechanical and electrical systems.
Ensure vehicles are safe and ready for service.
Perform oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, brake inspections, air system repairs, tire inspections, battery testing, coolant system repairs, belt and hose replacement, lighting repairs, suspension inspections, steering system repairs, and general vehicle service.
Diagnose and repair issues related to diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, charging systems, starting systems, exhaust systems, emissions systems, electrical components, and other vehicle operating systems.
Respond to driver-reported defects.
Review pre-trip and post-trip inspection concerns.
Identify safety-related issues.
Prioritize repairs based on operational needs and vehicle safety.
Use diagnostic tools, scan tools, meters, and other equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
Perform road tests or operational checks to confirm repairs.
Assist with emergency repairs, breakdowns, and roadside support.
Maintain accurate repair records, work orders, inspection forms, and parts usage documentation.
Communicate vehicle status, repair needs, parts requirements, and expected completion timelines to management.
Keep tools, equipment, parts, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Follow company safety policies, shop procedures, and all applicable fleet maintenance standards.
Identify repeat issues, unsafe conditions, or potential future failures and report them promptly.
Assist with fleet readiness, vehicle staging, seasonal preparation, and project-based vehicle needs.
Support overall shop operations and perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned.
