About The Position

Waste Pro is hiring a Diesel Technician in Pasco to diagnose and repair heavy-duty and light-duty trucks and related systems. The fleet includes trucks from manufacturers such as Mack, Freightliner, Peterbilt, McNeilus, and Heil, as well as alternative-fuel vehicles using CNG, LPG, and hybrid systems. Work may involve gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems, and may include welding and fabrication. The role involves maintaining and repairing equipment to support safe, productive operations; completing inspections and repair documentation; communicating vehicle issues and preventive techniques; and following safety and cleanliness standards. Technicians may receive support for ASE certification, including fee reimbursement, compensation increases, and a Master Technician Achievement Bonus. Technicians are also eligible for a monthly tool allowance of up to $80.

Requirements

Knowledge of suspension system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Knowledge of brake system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Knowledge of electrical system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Knowledge of hydraulic system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and the ability to interpret service manuals and make repairs based on them.
Ability to complete work within Suggested Repair Times (SRTs).
Ability to estimate the time and materials required for repairs.
Ability to work at a steady pace throughout the day.
Ability to use all Personal Protective Equipment mandated by the company.
Ability to get up and down from a commercial motor vehicle cab 50 to 100 times per day.
Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds from floor to waist height unassisted, and 50 pounds from floor to shoulder height and overhead unassisted.
Ability to push and pull 50 pounds unassisted.
Ability to frequently bend at the knees and waist, reach overhead or with extended arms, and twist at the waist (100 to 200 times for each activity).
Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather environments during road calls.
CDL Class B preferred within 12 months.

Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs and maintenance on equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) and repair orders.
Communicate vehicle issues and preventive maintenance techniques to managers and drivers.
Complete required paperwork in a timely and concise manner.
Follow safety policies and procedures and maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Use vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Perform repairs using Factory Service Manuals.
Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.
Attend and participate in assigned corporation-sponsored training courses.
Keep up to date on current technology used by Waste Pro, as appropriate to the job.
Provide assistance and guidance to Assistant Technicians and Shop Helpers.
Perform additional job duties assigned by the Supervisor.
