About The Position

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Kearny, NJ. Hours: Will train on the 7:00 AM – 3:30PM shift. After training, will transition to the 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM shift. In this role will make an impact in the following ways: Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products Maintain own tools

Requirements

  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
  • Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
  • Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level.
  • Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
  • Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
  • Minimal level of work shop experience required
  • Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Nice To Haves

  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Locally valid driving permit

Responsibilities

  • Completes repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under supervision
  • This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements.
  • This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
  • Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
