About The Position

Housby is looking for an experienced, self-driven diesel technician to join our growing Service team! This position is primarily responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles according to OEM guidelines with little supervision and communicate needed repairs to management.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience with strong background in engines and drivetrain.
  • Must supply tools to make job as efficient as possible.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certification from a diesel mechanic trade school (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to view a computer monitor.
  • Alpha/numeric keyboarding.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, walking, and reaching for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Training on multiple different classes of heavy-duty trucks is highly preferred.
  • Class A or B CDL is strongly preferred (company will assist employee in obtaining).
  • Possess a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to ready and comprehend instructions and information.
  • General computer skills desired.
  • Willing to continue education as directed a plus.
  • May be asked to travel at times.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment by performing inspections to identify work and/or damaged parts.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicles according to OEM guidelines.
  • Make recommendations of repairs needed to managers to provide estimates and communicate with customer.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by replacing, repairing, and adjusting parts. This may include disassembly of major components, subcomponents or systems to include engine, drivetrain, electrical, air conditioning, cabs, clutches or other components.
  • Perform repairs within given timelines.
  • Complete road tests for vehicles, which may include the need to drive such vehicles.
  • Document detailed steps taken for repairs, and properly document time needed to complete repairs via computer system.
  • Save parts from potential warranty repairs, and tag them with the work order number, and then place them in the warranty room.
  • Use shop provided tools as per intended use. Should a tool be lost or broken, report this to management immediately.
  • Properly dispose of any fluids.
  • Clean work bay when repairs are complete.
  • Follow general safety rules for each job. Ear/eye protection, leather boots, safety cages, etc.
  • Complete continuing education courses.
