About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions (CCFS) is seeking a Diesel Technician Lead. This safety-sensitive position involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. The primary responsibilities include running diagnostic tests, identifying failures, and resolving issues, which may involve larger tasks such as replacing transmissions and third member assemblies. Diesel Technician Leads will collaborate with and guide other team members to ensure that equipment is safe and operating efficiently. Additionally, this position will provide support and offer advice on repair-related matters.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 5 years or more of professional, progressive experience as a diesel technician
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, logistics, math, and communication skills
  • Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance problems
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Experienced and proficient working with diagnostic computers
  • Knowledge of working on trailers
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work well with team members in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair preferred.
  • Knowledge of forklift repair and maintenance is a plus
  • Commercial Driver’s License is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough DOT inspections and repairs on Company vehicles and machines.
  • Use different hand tools and powered equipment, such as impact wrenches, welding equipment, hoists, jacks, etc. to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using electronic diagnostic equipment and wiring schematics, and then efficiently making those repairs.
  • Test drive vehicles to identify problems and to verify that equipment has been repaired properly.
  • Diagnose and replace parts, valves, bearings, assemblies, etc. as needed, including heating and A/C systems.
  • Utilize knowledge of diesel emissions and diagnostics to accurately repair issues.
  • Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
