Requirements

  • Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety. In accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards, take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times.
  • Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment. Service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment operating throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime.
  • Inspect Equipment and Materials. Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Perform repairs to address problems when necessary.
  • Handle and Move Objects. Handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools safely throughout the shop and plant.
  • Document and Record Information. Ensure that correct and accurate documentation regarding all mobile equipment is completed daily and monthly. Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form.
  • Operate Equipment. When necessary, assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the plant to ensure efficient production.
  • Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Travel. This role will be based out of Fredericksburg, VA and travel up to 90% of the time to various work sites throughout the region, New York to North Carolina. This role will utilize a company vehicle to be on the road from Monday-Friday supporting projects throughout our division.
