The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks a Diesel Power Plant Operator II to work at the New Charles River Dam, 250 Warren Ave, Charlestown. The position operates and maintains diesel engines, pumps, and associated equipment used in flood control operations. The operator helps prevent flooding and responds to emergency calls for pump stations and operations. Operators may be exposed to adverse weather, noise, fumes, gases, open water channels, ladders, bridge staging, steep slopes, and confined spaces. The position works varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and carries standby on-call responsibilities. Standard hours are determined by the supervisor; occasional evening meetings or night and weekend work may be required to meet operational needs and respond to emergencies.
