About The Position

Mechanics service the fleet of Gillig & Ayat Double-Decker buses to ensure safe and reliable transportation for sightseeing customers on our Hop-On Hop-Off City Tours. Diesel Mechanics apply their knowledge of maintenance and repairs, and dedicate their skills to improving Fleet Performance, ensuring smooth operations for our staff and customers. CITY SIGHTSEEING IS IN THE E N T E R T A I N M E N T BUSINESS & FLEET PERFORMANCE DRIVES COMPANY PERFORMANCE! The iconic Red double-decker open-top bus is THE MOST unique and visible aspect of City Sightseeing New Orleans (CSS) market presence and tour experience. Fleet Performance is key to Company Performance, so a team of smart and dedicated mechanics maintain the buses in top shape from our downtown Depot while meeting local/Federal regulations. Fleet includes Gillig Buses or Ayat buses with Detroit DT530E, Cummins ISC, or International Engines & Allison Transmissions.

Requirements

  • Drivers' license (to operate the service truck)
  • 5 years experience working in maintenance of diesel engines (preferably buses)
  • Vocational/Technical or certification on diesel mechanics.
  • Experience in diesel mechanics.
  • Read, interpret and apply technical manuals, schematics, diagrams and parts catalog.
  • Experience on parts identification from manuals, requisition, tracking and stocking.
  • Experience in using materials and equipment in the repair/maintenance of buses and other vehicles.
  • Experience in using and interpreting On-Board Diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures.
  • Valid drivers license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as auto electrician and electronics is a plus.
  • CDL license is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily vehicle inspections as per company Preventative Maintenance System.
  • Perform scheduled vehicles inspections as per company Preventative Maintenance System.
  • Conduct mechanical, electrical and audio vehicle repairs; including road assistance.
  • Assess issues or concerns and communicate repair plan to Operational Manager
  • Repair or Replace parts such as tires, batteries, mirrors, and any other part.
  • Clear OBDVIRs upon repairing issues reported by Bus Operators.
  • Follow Operations Manager daily work plan.
  • Maintain organized and clean work area.
  • Secure company's vehicle, equipment and tools during and after every usage.
  • Properly utilize company tools and equipment and lifts to complete repairs.
  • Control access to work area to prevent unauthorized entry.
