Diesel Truck/Tractor, Trailer and forklift mechanic providing maintenance for MEI fleet of forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k) Peterbilt and KW tractors and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers. This role involves mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, including routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems. The mechanic will determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. They will also keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures. Verifying vehicle performance through test drives and adjusting controls and systems are key aspects of the role. The position requires maintaining vehicle records by annotating services and repairs, and keeping shop equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs when needed. Cost containment through warranty usage and evaluating service/parts options is also expected. The role involves managing supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt. Enhancing the maintenance department's reputation by taking ownership of new requests and exploring opportunities to add value is encouraged. Daily housekeeping duties in the assigned area are also required.
