About The Position

Diesel Truck/Tractor, Trailer and forklift mechanic providing maintenance for MEI fleet of forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k) Peterbilt and KW tractors and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers. This is a mid-level mechanic role focused on diesel vehicles, involving routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems. The position requires diagnosing vehicle conditions through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts, and maintaining equipment availability through preventive maintenance and component upgrades. The role also involves keeping shop equipment operational, managing costs through warranty and parts evaluation, maintaining inventory, and contributing to the enhancement of the maintenance department's reputation. Daily housekeeping duties in the assigned area are also expected.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum two (2) years or more proven fleet mechanic experience (Heavy Equipment and Vehicles)
Minimum of 1 year of intermediate skills working in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of operating equipment (Forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.)
Construction industry experience
Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
Rigging experience

Responsibilities

Mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service and hydraulic systems.
Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for extensive and complex repairs.
Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when.
