Diesel Mechanic
About The Position
This role involves performing diagnostic tests, analyzing results, and conducting repairs on various vehicle components including engines, steering, transmissions, and braking systems. The position also includes checking lighting systems, test driving vehicles for performance evaluation, and carrying out preventative maintenance. Record-keeping, adherence to inspection checklists, parts inventory management, and maintaining shop cleanliness are also key responsibilities. The role requires agile decision-making regarding other equipment such as Top Handlers, Forklifts, Yard Spotters, and service vans.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
- Good IT and diagnostic skills.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Run diagnostic tests on vehicles.
- Analyze diagnostic test results.
- Replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
- Check vehicle lighting systems.
- Test drive vehicles to gauge performance.
- Perform preventative maintenance on service trucks.
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
- Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist.
- Maintain a parts inventory.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the shop.
- Agile decision making on other equipment (Top Handler, Forklift, Yard Spotter, service van, etc.).
