About The Position

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely. Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); a technical diploma or degree in diesel mechanics is highly desired.
  • Computer literacy is required, with the ability to be trained on specialized software systems (experience with diagnostic software is a major plus).
  • Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention is necessary.
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, hot/cold weather conditions, and toxic or caustic chemicals/fumes.
  • Occasionally required to work in high, precarious places.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulics, and specialized waste/recycling equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles.
  • Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner system, ensuring all necessary parts are procured for a successful maintenance plan.
  • Accurately complete daily reports, work orders, parts orders, and other required administrative tasks.
  • Ensure all work is performed in safe conditions and in strict compliance with federal, state/provincial, local laws, and company safety policies.
  • Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups on equipment, coordinate repair schedules, and aid in the training and orientation of new team members.
  • Possess, provide, and maintain the personal hand and power tools necessary to perform heavy equipment maintenance, while keeping a clean and organized work area.
