About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining the engine and equipment on waste collection trucks. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing problems, and making repairs to ensure the efficient operation of company vehicles and equipment. The mechanic will also engage with truck drivers and contribute positively to the community. The hours of operation for this job will be 2nd shift or night shift work.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles.
  • Skills in the use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in welding
  • Skill in troubleshooting and identifying problems and in devising related solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots vehicle and equipment operations problems, diagnoses and subsequently makes repairs
  • Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules.
  • Adjusts, repairs or replaces parts and equipment.
  • Attends safety meetings and classes.
  • Maintains tools and equipment.
  • Maintains a safe and tidy shop.
  • Welds and fabricates parts as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
