About The Position

The Service Technician at Nextran Truck Centers is a skilled position that is responsible for repairing and maintaining our customers� Medium & Heavy-Duty Trucks. This includes preventative maintenance, repairs, disassembly, and reassembly, and writing detailed work notes.

Requirements

Two plus years of diesel mechanic experience.
English proficiency is essential for understanding safety protocols, customer interactions, and internal communications.
Basic computer skills
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with only limited resources.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

ASE or Cummins Engine Repair Certificate is a plus.
Valid CDL License a plus, recommended within 1 year of hiring.

Responsibilities

Performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
Diagnose the cause of the malfunctions and perform repairs.
Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
Notifies the service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
Returns all tools and manuals to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
Operates all tools/equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.
Other duties as assigned.
