About The Position

The Service Technician at Nextran Truck Centers is a skilled position that is responsible for repairing and maintaining our customers� Medium & Heavy-Duty Trucks. This includes preventative maintenance, repairs, disassembly, and reassembly, and writing detailed work notes.

Requirements

  • Two plus years of diesel mechanic experience.
  • English proficiency is essential for understanding safety protocols, customer interactions, and internal communications.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with only limited resources.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE or Cummins Engine Repair Certificate is a plus.
  • Valid CDL License a plus, recommended within 1 year of hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose the cause of the malfunctions and perform repairs.
  • Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
  • Notifies the service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Returns all tools and manuals to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Operates all tools/equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
