About The Position

Solid Waste Services of West Virginia, Inc. is a locally owned and operated private family-owned company that has been experiencing record growth and success. In 1964, it started with one truck and has grown into one of the largest, most successful fully integrated solid waste companies serving the mid-Atlantic area. The SWS of West Virginia Division, located in Proctor, WV, is currently searching for a Diesel Mechanic due to growth.

Requirements

Diesel Engine Technical degree and/or training or relative and transferable experience
Knowledge in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and jacking equipment
Ability to Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs
Ability to read, understand and interpret technical data via instruction manuals
Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new systems and software
A valid driver’s license
Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Must be organized and motivated to succeed with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Nice To Haves

A Commercial Driving License (A or B)
WV State Inspection License (highly desired)

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic, repair and maintenance on trucks, construction equipment, including auxiliary components in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications
Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs
Adhere to manufacturer’s warranty policies and procedures
Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
