About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, general maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of vehicles including semi-trucks, cars, pickups, and yard trucks. This role is crucial for ensuring our fleet meets safety standards and operates efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engine systems, air brakes, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance checks and services.
  • Ability to perform general maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles (semi-trucks, cars, pickups, yard trucks).
  • Ability to perform Annual Federal Inspections.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a CDL.
  • Ability to complete written forms (shop orders, inspection forms, vehicle & equipment work history records).
  • Knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements for tractors and trailers.
  • Ability to schedule and determine work priorities.
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment to be repaired.
  • Basic shag operation skills.
  • Basic forklift operation skills.
  • Working knowledge of MIG welder for aluminum and steel.
  • Working knowledge of torch for cutting & heating.
  • Ability to repair air brake systems.
  • Ability to do alignments on both tractors and trailers.
  • Working knowledge of matching tires for tread depth & brand.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical principles, systems and components.
  • Ability to read/understand electrical schematics.
  • Ability to inspect, repair or replace brake parts (brake pads, shoes, drums, and rotors).
  • Ability to repair/replace ABS System.
  • Ability to inspect wheel seals, driveline system & U joints.
  • Ability to perform routine Preventative Maintenance (Air, Oil, Fuel filter, full truck inspection).
  • Working knowledge of fuel system.
  • Working knowledge of laptop with diagnostic software.
  • Ability to locate & repair leaks with AC system.
  • Ability to perform overhead valve adjustments.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess or able to obtain CDL

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic shag and forklift operations for moving trailers and materials.
  • Utilize MIG welder for aluminum and steel repairs.
  • Use a torch for cutting and heating.
  • Repair air brake systems.
  • Perform alignments on tractors and trailers.
  • Match tires based on tread depth and brand.
  • Work with basic electrical principles, systems, and components.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Inspect, repair, or replace brake parts (pads, shoes, drums, rotors).
  • Repair or replace ABS systems.
  • Inspect wheel seals, driveline systems, and U-joints.
