At GFL Environmental, our fleet of commercial diesel trucks keeps local communities clean, safe, and running smoothly—and you’re the expert who keeps those trucks on the road. If you love turning wrenches, troubleshooting complex diesel engines, and taking pride in maintaining reliable commercial vehicles, we want you on our shop team!

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in diesel engine repair and commercial fleet/truck maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, air brakes, electrical systems, and computer literacy to use shop software systems.
  • Ownership of basic mechanic hand tools (specialty tools provided in-shop).
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs and work actively in a bustling repair shop environment.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/technical diploma in diesel technology
  • A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus for test-driving fleet vehicles!

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, oil changes, brake inspections, and tune-ups on our commercial fleet of diesel trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, air brakes, electrical systems, suspensions, transmissions, and emission control systems.
  • Conduct safety inspections to identify potential mechanical issues before they turn into road delays or safety hazards.
  • Utilize diagnostic software, maintain clean work areas, document work orders accurately, manage parts inventory, and follow lock-out/tag-out safety protocols.
  • Work alongside a skilled team to solve tough mechanical puzzles, keep shop efficiency high, and assist with training new shop team members.
