About The Position

Merrell Bros., Inc. Indy Disposal Solutions in Speedway is seeking a full-time Diesel Technician for Fleet & Facility Operations. The position focuses on operating and maintaining a semi-transport tractor and trailer, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting vehicle problems. The technician works with the repair team to manage priorities and complete repairs in a timely manner based on operational needs.

Requirements

At least 2 years of diesel technician and/or maintenance experience.
Expertise in preventive maintenance.
Computer diagnostic skills.
Knowledge of shop equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Deadline- and detail-oriented.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl, with intermittent standing, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record.

CDL license.

Responsibilities

Perform minor repairs on trucks and trailers.
Conduct regular preventive maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers.
Perform DOT inspections, including safety and brake inspections.
Perform scheduled service and oil changes.
Collaborate with the repair team to diagnose vehicle problems and plan timely repairs.
Perform electrical system repairs on vehicles.
Perform regular diagnostic tests on vehicles.
Report defects, accidents, or violations.
Document vehicle records manually and by computer, and report findings.
Advocate for safety protocols and document findings.
Ensure personnel comply with safety requirements and wear the required personal protective equipment for the work activity.
