About The Position

DIESEL MECHANIC Sautter Crane Rental is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to be trained to work on our fleet of cranes. Our cranes are some of the largest on the eastern seaboard. The person hired for this role will inspect, test, repair, and maintain these specialized vehicles. We are seeking a diesel mechanic with or without crane experience, and will provide specialty crane training to the hired candidate. Our crane rental department is headquartered in Philadelphia, with yards and worksites in the greater Philadelphia area. Our work could best be described as renting out cranes for large commerical projects, providing our clients with a clean fleet and experienced roster of crane operators. We pride ourselves on accurate operations and excellence in safety.

Requirements

  • Experience working on large diesel vehicles such as but not limited to: buses, trucks, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulated vehicles, or military vehicles.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of industry experience.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communications skills are required.
  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NIASE / ASE) greatly valued
  • Experience working with cranes desired but not required to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specified basic care and maintenance of our fleet of cranes, including inspecting, servicing, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components.
  • Inspect and diagnose problems using both specialized software and also physical inspections.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other equipment.
  • Work within the scope of allowable repairs without voiding critical warranties.
  • Test-drive to ensure all parts and engine run smoothly to operate as expected.
  • Communicate with on site management team on the work performed and present status of these specialty vehicles.
  • When needed, assign specific work tasks to work group members to keep vehicles in good order.
