Requirements

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with a mixed fleet environment
  • Hands-on experience with Dodge Ram 4500 chassis vehicles strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Jerr-Dan towing systems and tow dolly maintenance a significant plus
  • Experience managing a parts room, including inventory, ordering, and vendor/supplier negotiation
  • Ability to diagnose and repair both diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report background check
  • Acceptable Driving History: No employee in a driving-related position may have any of the following: Any drug or alcohol related offenses in connection with the operation of a motor vehicle, Careless, reckless, or negligent driving, Any felony involving a motor vehicle, License is currently suspended, expired, or revoked, No more than three moving violations during the previous 36-month period, No more than one at-fault accident during the previous 36-month period

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a mixed fleet of tow trucks, including both newer and high-mileage vehicles requiring close attention
  • Service and maintain Dodge Ram 4500 chassis vehicles and Jerr-Dan towing systems
  • Service tow dollies and associated towing equipment
  • Diagnose and repair both diesel and unleaded passenger vehicles
  • Manage the parts room, including inventory control, parts ordering, and supplier price negotiation to control costs
  • Assist in assessing vehicle damage claims with accuracy and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate clearly using basic MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Partner with drivers and management to minimize vehicle downtime and keep the fleet road-ready
