About The Position

We are seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to deploy in support of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers disaster response and infrastructure recovery efforts throughout the United States and its territories, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In this role, Diesel Generator Mechanics will evaluate generator condition, identify worn or damaged components, perform required repairs, and complete routine service tasks such as oil and filter changes within contract-required timeframes. This position is well-suited for a dependable, hands-on mechanic with strong diesel engine troubleshooting experience, generator maintenance knowledge, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced field environment supporting emergency power operations.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of diesel engines
  • At least 2 years of experience at the journeyman level
  • Experience performing mechanical and electrical system failure diagnosis on diesel engines
  • Ability to perform repairs, maintenance, inspections, oil changes, and filter changes on diesel-powered generators
  • Education, technical training, or equivalent on-the-job training in diesel engines, power generation plants, or a related technical field
  • Accredited college, university, or technical school experience may substitute for 1 year of required practical experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of Tier IV diesel engine components and functions
  • Ability to document generator condition, deficiencies, repairs, and service actions accurately
  • OSHA 10 Certificiation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on diesel standby generators
  • Technical school, trade school, or formal training related to diesel engines, power generation, or generator maintenance
  • Tier IV systems training or certification, or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting emergency response, disaster recovery, temporary power, or federal field operations
  • Familiarity with generator maintenance procedures, service intervals, and contract-required documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting background with both mechanical and electrical diesel engine systems

Responsibilities

  • Inspect mission-assigned diesel-powered generators to determine overall condition
  • Identify worn, damaged, or defective components and recommend required repairs
  • Perform diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of diesel engines and generator systems
  • Conduct oil and filter changes within contract-prescribed timeframes
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system failures
  • Support effective implementation of required repairs
  • Record detailed generator information, inspection findings, service actions, and deficiencies in the required maintenance documentation system
  • Report generator or equipment issues through the appropriate chain of command
  • Follow direction from the Mechanical Branch Leader and Operations Chief
  • Maintain safe work practices in accordance with project, OSHA, and contract safety requirements
  • Support emergency power operations as assigned
