About The Position

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious B-Tech Mechanic to join our team in Stockbridge, GA. Working on our 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM night shift, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on our fleet of Heavy-Duty Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) waste and recycling vehicles.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty diesel or CNG vehicle maintenance.
  • Valid Brake Safety Inspection Certificate.
  • EPA Section 609 A/C System Certification.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software, electrical schematics, and hydraulic system repair.
  • Must possess a personal toolset adequate for B-Tech repair operations.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, and working in tight engine compartments.
  • Sustained visual and mental alertness required for diagnostic testing and safe shop operations.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • ASE certifications (Diesel, Brakes, Steering & Suspension).

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs on heavy-duty diesel engine and CNG systems under minimal supervision.
  • Complete scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and brake system checks to guarantee "road-ready" fleet availability.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic software to read codes, isolate faults, and execute precision repairs.
  • Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, DOT, and internal GFL safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate digital work orders, track replacement parts, and update maintenance logs daily.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment and collaborate with senior tech leadership to refine repair skills.
