About The Position

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Chesapeake, VA. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic skills, enjoys troubleshooting mechanical issues, and takes pride in keeping equipment safe and operating efficiently.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Fleet Mechanic, Heavy Truck Mechanic, or Trailer Mechanic.
  • Experience repairing heavy-duty trucks, trailers, forklifts, and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience with ABS brake systems.
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn maintenance software.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work underneath equipment.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using diagnostic software such as DAVIE4, Cummins INSITE, ServiceRanger, ESA, or Diagnostic Link is preferred.
  • Virginia State Inspector License is a plus.
  • CDL is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Vocational or technical training in diesel technology is preferred.
  • ASE certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other fleet equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections.
  • Repair and maintain diesel engines, air brake systems, ABS brake systems, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.
  • Complete DOT inspections and routine maintenance repairs.
  • Perform engine diagnostics using manufacturer diagnostic software.
  • Identify needed repairs and order replacement parts.
  • Complete maintenance records and repair documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • Work with the operations team to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
