About The Position

WM is seeking a Diesel Mechanic for their 2nd shift operations. This role offers a safer work environment, financial security, and opportunities for career advancement. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for fixing trucks and equipment that service millions of customers, using modern tools and procedures for maintenance on diesel and CNG trucks. The position is based in a repair/maintenance shop at the Longbeach, CA hauling site.

Requirements

2 or more years of experience with Electrical Fleet engine knowledge
2 or more years of experience with Fleet hydraulic knowledge
Must have own tools
Must have valid driver’s license
Must be able to travel via plane to do 2 weeks of training in Arizona
2 years of relevant work experience
A valid drivers license, with a clean driving record
Be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Perform safety checks on vehicles.
Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
