Diesel Mechanics are to perform maintenance services in which the volume and quality of work is within the acceptably measured standards for Dayton Freight Lines. This role involves understanding troubleshooting diesel engine systems with ECM diagnostic programs and other troubleshooting techniques, diagnosing, repairing, and replacing external engine components, and testing and repairing entire truck chassis electrical systems. The mechanic will develop skills to become proficient in the repair of all major power and drive train components, perform PM inspections and services per DFL policy, and repair, adjust, and align suspension and brake systems. Additionally, they will maintain the tire maintenance program, perform service calls, wash and fuel equipment, and perform vehicle road tests if qualified. The position also requires maintaining a positive attitude, interacting courteously with employees, contributing to the care of the shop and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe environment compliant with OSHA and company standards. Recording work in the EMS system, collaborating with the Parts Department for inventory, and continuously improving processes are also key aspects of the role.
