Diesel Mechanic - $5000 Sign On Bonus, PTO, Benefits Day 1
About The Position
WM is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join their team. This role offers a safer work environment, financial security for families, and opportunities for career advancement. Mechanics will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel trucks and equipment, ensuring the community is supported by their work. The role involves working with modern tools and procedures on diesel equipment and potentially CNG trucks. Mechanics will inspect, diagnose, and repair various vehicle systems, estimate repair costs, perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times, respond to breakdowns, conduct safety checks, complete paperwork, assist senior mechanics, and review inspection reports. Maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with standards is also a key responsibility.
Requirements
- 2 years of relevant work experience
- A valid drivers license, with a clean driving record
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
- Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Safety checks on vehicles – the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
- Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
- Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
