About The Position

Waste Connections has an immediate opening for a Diesel Mechanic to join their growing team in Monroe, SC. As a key member of the technicians team, the Diesel Mechanic will focus on the overall maintenance of equipment used by the company. This will involve inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

Requirements

Ability to work 2nd shift (2pm start time)
Minimum 1 year of proven experience in the field preferred
Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments
Valid CDL or the ability to obtain one with 90 days.
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to stand most of the work day
Ability to stoop, kneel, and bend
Ability to reach into tight spaces
Ability to climb and crawl
Ability to reach and twist
Ability to grasp and use hand tools with precision
Ability to see/read/write work orders, gauges etc.
Ability to withstand exposure to loud noises.

Welding/fabrication experience

Responsibilities

Initiating repairs by utilizing vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes
Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
Reviewing, completing identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Conducting safety checks on vehicles and equipment
Performing service calls for emergency breakdowns
Maintaining a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
