About The Position
Florida Express Waste & Recycling, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety‑conscious and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Ocala, FL. This role is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a fleet of diesel trucks and equipment, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
Requirements
- 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance software and inspection protocols
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Comfortable working in physically demanding conditions year‑round
Nice To Haves
- CDL preferred (not required)
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using computerized diagnostic systems
- Initiate repairs or assign corrective actions as needed
- Perform safety inspections and operational checks on fleet equipment
- Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
- Accurately document all maintenance activities using fleet maintenance software
- Track parts usage and repair time
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
