About The Position

Under the guidance of shop leadership, conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on both Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to maintain GFL’s fleet in safe and continuous “road ready” condition. This role involves diagnosing and repairing operational difficulties, performing routine maintenance and complex repairs, planning and scheduling repairs, completing administrative tasks, ensuring safety and compliance, assisting with reviews and training, and maintaining personal tools and a clean work area.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a diesel mechanic.
Computer literacy is required, with the ability to be trained on specialized software systems.
Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Nice To Haves

A technical diploma or degree in diesel mechanics is highly desired.
Experience with diagnostic software is a major plus.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulics, and specialized waste/recycling equipment.
Perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles.
Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner system, ensuring all necessary parts are procured for a successful maintenance plan.
Accurately complete daily reports, work orders, parts orders, and other required administrative tasks.
Ensure all work is performed in safe conditions and in strict compliance with federal, state/provincial, local laws, and company safety policies.
Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups on equipment, coordinate repair schedules, and aid in the training and orientation of new team members.
Possess, provide, and maintain the personal hand and power tools necessary to perform heavy equipment maintenance, while keeping a clean and organized work area.
